I’m not going to lie, when I started blogging I really hoped that more than just close friends and family would read what I write. Although, I really, really appreciate that anyone reads what I write. And I hope to get to know all my readers. I started blogging over the summer, and I love it. I’ve met so many wonderful and kind people since then. I love my blogger friends, and I love my readers.
What to Expect
I usually try to be funny, but I can’t promise that everything will be funny all the time. I have a few serious pieces up my sleeve. Also, my sister is about to have a baby, so I’m about 3 days away from becoming a blubbering puddle. I promise, though, if I think you might cry, I’ll give you a warning so you can grab a tissue. Although you may laugh so hard that you need a tissue, so maybe you should always have a tissue handy.
What You’ll Find
There are a few things going on around here. There are day-to-day posts, which are just whatever is going on or whatever tickles my fancy. Pretty self-explanatory, but I explained it anyway because I like to hear myself speak. There are silly rating scale posts, which are charts showing the hierarchy of something on an awesome-to-bullshit scale. (Oh, sometimes I swear. Sorry, I don’t mean to offend.) I think these charts are funny, but my husband has said that he doesn’t get it. I’ve had to explain them to him, so there are two possibilities: (1) these charts aren’t actually funny or (2) my husband is wrong. It’s probably the latter. There’s also a little corner call Foodie Friday. This is a place to talk about food and food-related things on Fridays. There’s nothing there yet. There will be soon.
What to Know
I talk about my family and use their real names, unless someone has asked me not to. I obviously use pictures of them, too. Please don’t steal my pictures. That’s not cool.
Also, I have opinions and you have opinions, but let’s play nice, K?
What’s Up with Me
Here’s a little bit about me that’s not in the about section. I’m currently living the suburban dream outside Chicago. It’s turned cold suddenly, and I’ve actually thought, “I wonder if it’s inappropriate to leave the house in a Snuggie. Also, where can I buy a Snuggie?” I grew up in Northern VA and moved to the Chicago area after living in Raleigh, NC for 6 years. I slipped and fell on ice a lot the first two winters we were here. It took a while for my brain to realize that shiny spots on the pavement were ice and not water.
Another little truth about me: I try to eat healthy, but what I really want to eat all the time is pasta, bread, burgers, fries, pizza, tacos, snack chips, and chocolate. One day recently, I had bacon with breakfast, a bison cheeseburger for lunch (with fries), and a cheeseburger for dinner. It was a good day. Also, I don’t like chorizo. I always think I do, but I don’t.
So, there’s the lowdown. Things will evolve since this is just an itty bitty baby blog right now. You’re here on the ground floor! I like to mix metaphors! We’ll move onward and upward together, laughing, crying, and fist pumping the whole way.
Also, are the awesome-to-bullshit scales funny? (Don’t tell my husband, but I’m starting to doubt myself.) If you think they’re funny, what should we rate next?
